Adrian Young, a British son-in-law, has been living in Shijiazhuang for four years. This is his third year celebrating the Spring Festival in China. During the Spring Festival holiday this year, he learned Chinese calligraphy and visited several scenic spots in Hebei Province.
After retiring as a medic from the army, Nan Hongxing returned to his hometown of Nancaozhuang Village in north China's Hebei Province and became a doctor. By now, the 64-year-old veteran has been serving local villagers as a village doctor for almost 40 years.
Seventeen foreigners living in Baoding, North China's Hebei province, were invited by residents in Jingxiu district to spend Little New Year, or Xiaonian in Chinese, on last Saturday. The Xiaonian is usually a week before Lunar New Year, which falls on Jan 14 this year.
