Chengde, situated in the northeast of Hebei, is about 225 km northeast of Beijing. It is best known for Chengde Summer Resort, a vast imperial garden and palace formerly used by the Qing emperors as summer residence.

As one of the famous historic and cultural cities of China, Chengde has numerous scenic spots, with some of them being renowned both at home and abroad. The city is suitable for tourists all year around, however, considering its beautiful natural scenery, the best time to travel is from April to October. The Chengde Summer Resort and Eight Outer Temples have been listed as the world cultural heritage sites, which contributed to the city being one of famous cities in the world.
