In the latter half of 2023, the "China In My Eyes – Colorful Folk Customs" short video contest, sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and co-organized by the People's Associations for Friendship with Foreign Countries of 28 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and Beijing Kwai Technology Co., Ltd., was successfully held. The short video "Kung Fu Martin," produced by Cangzhou Technical College, received the special prize in this competition.
Directed by teachers from the International New Media Talent Training Base of Cangzhou Technical College, the short film starred Jemil Artus, a Liberian international student. The video tells the story of Jemil Artus coming to Hebei to learn martial arts, conveying the Chinese spirit and wisdom embedded in traditional martial arts. It vividly showcases the credible, adorable, and respectable image of Hebei Province, enhancing its international influence.
The "China In My Eyes" short video contest is a systematic non-governmental diplomatic brand event organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. It aims to tell China's stories from the perspective of foreigners. Since 2021, the contest has been annually collecting and publicly showcasing short video works from foreigners. Based on criteria such as theme expression, creativity, and emotional impact, awards are given to outstanding entries.
It is reported that the contest received over 100 short video submissions from more than 40 countries. In the end, 28 authors from 18 countries, including Liberia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Ukraine, Niger, Germany, Kenya, Belarus, were awarded the special prize (1 entry), first prize (2 entries), second prize (5 entries), third prize (10 entries), and honorable mention (6 entries).
