Caofeidian district in Tangshan, North China's Hebei province has recently ushered in a fishing season for white-leg shrimps, which are raised using brine from the salt fields in the district.
Over the past few years, the district has made full use of its abundant resources of salt fields and brine to develop the cultivation of the shrimps, known for their high tolerance to saline conditions.
It has utilized about 10,000 hectares of brine from salt fields for the cultivation of white-leg shrimps, with an annual production exceeding 4,000 metric tons, according to local government.
