It's wheat harvest time in the Qingyuan district of Baoding, Hebei province, and farmers are hurrying to get the job done.
In Houpu village, large harvesters roared forward under full power on Monday, cutting and threshing the wheat and returning straw to the ground.
"This year will see a good harvest — about 600 kilograms of grain per mu," said Liu Xueliang, the person in charge of a local cooperative for harvest machine service. One mu is 667 square meters.
The district has planted wheat on around 30,000 hectares. The harvest is expected to be done before June 20, the local government said. More than 1,100 harvesters will be used.
