This was the brainchild of a 57-year-old villager Hu Bingyi. He started the project in 2016. By 2021, he had planted more than 600 pots of flowers.

"I like flowers and have been thinking about how to make them serve to decorate the village," said the old man, who used to be truck driver. He said that when he was young, he did not have the time to plant flowers. It was only after retirement in 2016 that he began to take to flower cultivation while taking care of his parents.

He said that the 100-meter-long flower corridor was, in fact, an "unexpected surprise".

At first, he bought chrysanthemum from town and grew it well. He cut the branches from one pot to plant them in another pot. In this way, the number of flowerpots multiplied into more than 600, with varieties also increasing. When the number of pots became too many to be placed at home, he put them along roads, under the eaves of neighbors and gradually, the whole village was drowned in a sea of flowers.

It was not easy for the old man to take care of all the potted flowers. "I get up at five o'clock in the morning and spend two hours watering the flowers," he said, adding that he felt especially proud when the villagers praised him for creating the bright spectacle.

In five years, he has become a big flower farmer. Neighbors who want to plant potted flowers would come to him for a few branches. Flower dealers in town have befriended him. "I've gained a sense of accomplishment and felt proud for the work I've done," he said.

It is not easy to find a place without flowers in the village. Even though, Hu plans to plant 200 more pots. "As long as the people love flowers, I would plant as many as possible. Everybody is happy to see the village becoming more and more beautiful," he said.
