Young technicians show their talents at their posts

With the province laying greater and greater emphasis on technological innovation, more and more young technicians in Hebei are showing their talents at their posts.
Zhang Jingshu, a young technician working in the Shijiazhuang iron and steel company is a quiet young man yet very careful with his work and capable at his post.
After a long time of observation and consideration, he found the relation between the shapes and sizes of cokes and the operation period of the furnace. He finally successfully improved the technical process of the furnace based on a series of indexes. Last year, the No. 2 furnace that he is in charge of worked in very good conditions and the maintenance fee per ton reduced from 8.3 yuan to 7.1 yuan.
Though the cost has just reduced by 1 yuan per ton, in terms of the No. 2 furnace’s annual steel output of 850,000 tons, the annual revenue will increase by 1 million yuan.
While the Shijiazhuang Iron and Steel company is changing from a common company to one engaged in the production of special steel materials, the firm is in greater and greater need of young talented people. And the company has worked out a series of methods to encourage technological innovation among the young workers. The company will give a prize of 20,000 yuan to talented young workers like Zhang Jingshu.
Relevant departments in Hebei province have taken effective measure to encourage young workers in the province to participate in technological innovation.
Recently, the provincial committee of the Chinese communist youth league and the provincial youth federation jointly sponsored a campaign to make investigation into young people’s qualifications in science and technology in over 10 cities in the province. Over 30 enterprises have been chosen to be pilot firms where technological innovation among young workers is encouraged. The provincial department of science and technology and the personnel department jointly hold an biannual award appraisal for young workers’ technological innovation, an act to cultivate a batch of young experts and technicians at the internationally advanced level and to award those young people who have made great contribution to the province’s economic development, social progress and technological innovation. |
