Established in April 1992, the Information Office of the People’s
Government of Hebei Province (simplified as the Hebei Information Office, or
HIO) is responsible for explaining Hebei Province to the people of other
countries, including introducing its policies, stands, economic and social
developments, history and culture. To help foreigners know Hebei better, it
holds press conferences, provides books and video programs, post news on the
Internet, offer assistance to foreign journalists visiting in Hebei, and
organize international cultural exchanges. It works to promote Hebei Province to
conduct various exchanges with foreign countries so as to enhance the mutual
understanding and mutual trust between them.

Information Office (HIO)
The General Affairs Division
It is responsible for the
contact work between HIO and the State Council Information Office (in Beijing),
provincial government departments, and local information offices in the cities
of the province. It drafts work report and the annual work plan for HIO,
organize reporters to cover major international events held in the province,
holds press conferences, and handle internal management affairs.

Division
It is responsible for the approval and management of the
web sites located in Hebei Province which may post news on the Internet. It
offers guidance to web editors on online public opinions and provides supports
to major news web sites in the province on their construction and
operation.

It is responsible for planning and organizing the
production, publication and distribution of books, motion pictures and
television programs for foreigners, and holding comprehensive cultural exchanges
with foreign countries.

work of production, publication and distribution of books, motion pictures and
television programs for foreigners, sponsors external photo exhibitions and T.V.
